New Year in Berlin

The new year has started, and has begun with a nice party gothic style for me. I have first been to the city center where there was a big fireworks at the Unter Den Linden avenue. Fireworks were everywhere in the city though, as a lot of shops sold illegal fireworks so a lot of people have launched their own fireworks. When walking through the city during the evening of 31st December, it sounded like a war zone with constant shooting. The fireworks were really loud and they were really all over the city. Unlike other cities I spent New Year's Eve in, the fireworks went on all night, not just some firecrackers at midnight. It started hours before midnight and went on all night.

Unter Den Linden is a very nice avenue containing some of the nicest architecture I have seen in Berlin. Especially the Berliner Dom is fantastic and really impressive, but the whole avenue was really nice with its atmospheric lights and Weihnachtsmarkt.

I then went on to the K17 gothic club where the new year really started. Some big plans are set for 2008 and we will once again try to make it a great year with a lot of travelling. Frohe Neues Jahr!
